Sour Cream Pancakes

Anybody going stir crazy yet?! We are hanging in there, but I must admit our meals are getting less healthy as the days go on. Oh well.
Breakfast is pretty much my families favorite meal. I never get any complaints and it goes down quick. We have started having more and more breakfast foods for dinner because of this. These pancakes have quickly become a family favorite. I know, I have 3 or 4 pancake recipes on here already but each one is different. I honestly don't think you can have to many pancake recipes because the ingredients needed for each one are different. These pancakes use sour cream! SOUR CREAM GUYS! Oh my heavens. They are amazing. They fluff up so nice and have the most delicious flavor. If you have some sour cream in your fridge or just want to try out a fantastic new recipe....this is the one!

Banana Muffins

Alright folks. I know some stores have been running low on bananas lately. But you may have been one of the lucky ones to find some. We ALWAYS have bananas on hand and there are weeks when we will go through a couple of bunches and others we only eat a couple of bananas. On those weeks where we don't eat as many I like to use the ones getting ripe for this amazing recipe. I love banana muffins. I always have. Thankfully, my entire family loves them as well! This recipe is absolutely amazing. I have tried so many different recipes out there, and found some good ones, but this one is the bee's knees!
This recipe yields around 18 muffins that are super moist and jam packed with banana yumminess. It also has a delicious streusel on top which I feel takes it over the edge, unless of course you don't like streusel, then you can just leave it off.

Buttermilk Biscuits

One of my all time favorite meals is biscuits and gravy. Having a good biscuit makes a big difference. I have tried quite a few different biscuit recipes and this one is the winner in our family.
This biscuit recipe is nice and flaky and isn't dry or chewy.
This recipe is for a basic buttermilk biscuit but you could add your own herbs to it to jazz it up and mix up the flavors each time. Not only do I like to use these biscuits for breakfast with gravy but I also love them with a nice warm bowl of soup or even as a hearty side to some Alfredo or, to be honest, I like them warm with some butter and jam on them. FANTASTIC. Ugh my mouth is salivating, now I need to go make some more!

Breakfast Cheesecake

This is such a busy time of year! The last thing I want to be worrying about in the morning is what I am going to feed people. This has become a traditional Christmas breakfast/brunch for us, because it can be made the night before or days in advance and still taste amazing, which makes it perfect for a busy season. It is on the sweet side, so I will usually have some hashbrowns and bacon to go along with it, but those aren't to hard to prepare.
As much as I love this recipe at Christmas time, this recipe holds a little bit of special meaning to me as well because it was the first "meal" that one of my friends brought to me when I had my first child. She brought it with a huge bowl of mixed fruit and it was the most unique and helpful meal I received. Dinner is great, but people often forget about breakfast. So the reason it holds special meaning is because I was able to eat it for several breakfasts, and even some midnight snacks while I was home with my first newly born child and in survival mode for the first time ever. Ever since then, I have made this for others who have recently had a baby.
But you don't need a special occasion to have this. 😀 This also makes for a great dessert!

Banana Bread

You know those recipes that you have had forever? This is one of mine. I have had this recipe since before I got married and it shows. The printed version of this recipe is covered in splatters and all sorts of goop, which means it's well loved. As Christmas draws near I find myself in the baking mood. Every Christmas I bounce between a few different ideas for friend and neighbor gifts and this banana bread is one of those that I use. This recipe is one that I have been making for years and years and absolutely love it. Now, I don't only make this at Christmas time, I make it anytime I have bananas that need to be used up.

Cinnamon Sugar Muffins

Whenever I used to ask my husband what he wanted for a "special breakfast" he would always respond by saying, "Oh what about those muffins my mom used to make with that yummy cinnamon sugar stuff on top". My husband absolutely loves this recipe. I don't know if it is because these muffins are so yummy or if it's because it's a recipe his mom used to make. Regardless, these muffins are so easy and darn tasty.
I remember the first time my mother in-law made these for me. I knew I had to have the recipe right away. Since then, I have been making these quite frequently and these have now become one of my children's favorite muffins as well.

Aebleskivers

Not sure how to say the name of these babies? That's okay, my husband calls them Eberskeebers because it sounds funnier and knows it bugs me. The correct way to say these though is able-ski-vers. Still not sure?? Just call them Pancake Puffs, it makes life more simple :)
Unfortunately, you do need a special type of pan for these babies, but Amazon saves the day if you don't have one. THIS is the style of pan that I have and have been using it for years.
These babies are delicious! If you like pancakes, then you HAVE to give them a try. They puff up to be about the size of a golf ball. At our house, we like to eat them dipped in plain old syrup but I have stuffed them before with nutella, jams, and chocolate.

Buttermilk Syrup

Oh Buttermilk Syrup. I love this stuff. It makes such a great addition to the Buttermilk Pancake recipe I shared earlier. I first had this recipe at my sisters house and instantly fell in love with it. We make this every time we have extra buttermilk sitting in the fridge, and never regret it. The flavor of this syrup is way different then that of regular maple syrup. It almost has a bit of a caramel(ish) flavor, and is very rich...and heavenly.
If you are looking for something different to try on your waffles or pancakes, give this a try. You won't regret it.

Buttermilk Pancakes

We love breakfast food at our house so I like to have an assortment of different recipes on hand at all times for those mornings or nights when we need something full of carbs and sugar :)
This is BY FAR the best buttermilk pancake recipe I have ever had. I tend to like buttermilk pancakes better then plain ol' pancakes because you get that different flavor from the milk, which shakes things up a bit.
What I like to do with these is make a triple batch and store them in our freezer for quick breakfasts for my kids.
These babies go AMAZINGLY well with Buttermilk Syrup. Which is great because you can use up your extra buttermilk making this.

Banana Nut Buckwheat

My families favorite meal of the day is breakfast. Especially my kids. They love everything carb related; Waffles, Pancakes, German Pancakes, etc. I personally cannot handle having a lot of carbs in the morning because it makes me bloat super bad for the rest of the day, so I usually try fix myself something a little less carb heavy. If you like to eat oatmeal, then this is a recipe you need to try. I had never had much buckwheat until I went on an Anti-Inflammatory diet and found that it is very similar to steel cut oats, but cooks faster! This recipe is great for those mornings when you are looking for something that is healthy, not to time consuming, and tastes great.

Fantastic Waffles

Lately my mornings have been starting off with a waffle. Every morning I ask my girls what they would like for breakfast and it is almost always waffles.
Usually my husband is in charge of making waffles on Saturday mornings but we went through those ones pretty fast a few weeks ago so when she asked for some on Monday I grabbed my trusty Better Homes and Garden book and made waffles. I don't know if just made them wrong or what but I did not like them anymore. (Even though that is the recipe we have used for years).
So I quickly ran to my trusty Pinterest and found this yummy recipe from food.com.
Its great. Probably because its loaded with butter but oh baby its good. The thing I really like about these waffles is that you whip the egg whites and fold them into the batter which makes the waffles so light. You won't regret trying this recipe out! Especially with some good homemade syrup...mmm..yummy yummy! ENJOY!

The BEST Blueberry Muffins

I have made several different recipes for blueberry muffins and none of them were very good. Well ladies and gents...I no longer have to find a good one and neither do you! This recipe is freaking amazing!!!We make these muffins at least once a month, and they always get rave reviews from whoever eats them.
This recipe has just the right about of sweetness to help bring out the blueberry flavor and the crumble on top...oh yes...its sugary and crunchy and delicious!
This recipe is also a bit unique in the fact that you use browned butter to make them. Don't be turned off if you've never had browned butter. It's beyond simple to make and adds such a wonderful nutty flavor to your muffin.

Almond Flour Pancakes

Usually I am a gluten lover. I LOVES ME SOME GLUTEN! But I have been trying to cut back a little bit and try out some different recipes that still taste good. This recipe is great. It is made with almond flour, which I love and is also dairy free, soy free, and grain free. These pancakes have become a staple in my home for breakfast. The flavor is good and the consistency is similar to a whole wheat pancake.

Deep Fried French Toast

Yes. You read that correctly. Deep, fried, french toast. This has yum written all over it.
For our anniversary this year I told my husband all I wanted was to not have to cook for one whole day. So he took me out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It was so fun.
For breakfast we decided to try out a new place called The Original Breakfast House. This particular item was on the menu and was amazing. I paired it with a glass a fresh squeezed orange juice and found myself in pure heaven after just having breakfast.
Of course, when I got home I instantly started looking up recipes online to see if I could figure out how to make it, and came up with this recipe that turned out pretty darn close. It isn't exactly like theirs but hey, I think think that's okay cuz it is delicious none the less.

Banana Nut Muffins

I absolutely love breakfast food. Once a week we like to cook breakfast for dinner, not only because we love breakfast food but also because it is quick, easy, and affordable as well.
Muffins are a great way to make a lot of food out of your over ripe bananas. I like this recipe better then some of the others I have tried because it has chunks of the banana in it rather then just all mushed up ones. It helps to keep the muffins extra moist I personally think that they have more of a banana flavor.
Throw out your old banana muffin recipes because this one is a keeper for sure!

Whole Wheat Pancakes

I think breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I just love everything about breakfast. We even try to have 1 breakfast dinner every week because we love it so much. These pancakes will make a great addition to your breakfast menus. Not only are the delicious but using whole wheat makes them healthier as well. I got this recipe from my wonderful mother in law, who I'm glad is always willing to share her recipes.

Greenie Morning Refresher

Do any of you readers like to juice? I've been experimenting with juicing lately and have made up some pretty tasty concoctions. This one I made this morning though has definitely been my favorite so far. Juicing for me has been such an amazingly refreshing way to start the morning off feeling healthier then ever.
Some of the benefits of juicing rather then throwing it together in a blender is that juicing removes the fiber, making it easier to absorb, and works faster. If you've ever wanted to try juicing but have been slightly intimidated by having vegetables mixed in, this is the recipe you want to try. The combination of fruits and veggies in this recipe work so well together that you don't even notice the veggies.

Sausage Gravy over Biscuits

Okay I apologize for it being so long since I have posted anything. I got in a major recipe slump and started just fixing all of my recipes from on here and had no ambition to try something new. Man I don't know how food bloggers create and have new recipes every day for years and years. It's simply amazing and mind blowing that they have the brain power to do that much. I don't even have that much brain power and I just find recipes lol.
Anyway, to the recipe. Anybody who knows me knows that I love biscuits and gravy. I can be at the yuckiest motel breakfast buffet and still pour me a gloopy  glob onto a hard biscuit if it's available. I don't know why. So finally a couple of months ago I decided I should try to make my own. And boy am I glad I did. I love this recipe. I made this recipe every week for a month till I burned myself out for a bit (and gained a food 5 pounds lol). Now that I'm getting around to typing this up I'm starting to crave it again. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I did.

Coffee Cake

Oh coffee cake. I know that when you think coffee cake most people think of the spice cake that has the brown sugar topping on it. In my household that is known as "Cowboy Coffee Cake". So when I hear coffee cake this is what I think of. Every Christmas, Easter, General Conference, etc. my mom would make this for us and it was always my favorite.
I haven't had this in such a long time because my husband is not a fan of cooked fruit so using jam in anything is out of the question. But I have been craving some of this yummy deliciousness lately so it might just have to happen anyway!

Breakfast Quinoa

Now I am the first person to tell you that Quinoa is not one of my most favorite things to eat. After trying out a few different ways of having it for dinner and almost wanting the throw it right back up I decided to give it a chance for breakfast. I came across this recipe from one of my most favorite food sites skinnytaste.com and you know what...its actually good. Coming from me that is a pretty big statement because I can't stand the stuff to be honest. The first time I did this diet and did quinoa for breakfast I did everything I could think of to just choke the stuff down. Needless to say I never really looked forward to waking up and eating because I hated it so much.
BUT NOW...I have found this fantastic recipe that makes it taste a lot like cracked wheat cereal. And of course, is anti-inflammatory diet friendly. Enjoy!
