Cooking is MY time. Its my break from life (usually). I love this line from the movie Julie and Julia, "I love that after a day when nothing is sure, and when I say "nothing" I mean NOTHING, you can come home and absolutely know that if you add egg yolks to chocolate and sugar and milk it will get thick. It's such a comfort." Now, by all means I haven't necessarily done this at the end of the day, BUT, I do know the feeling of when NOTHING has gone right in the day you go into your kitchen and pull out that old faithful recipe of yours, you know the one you always go to, make it and it tastes completely fantastic, everything seems to go away...even just for a few moments. I love that feeling...
And then reality sets in...
"GOOD FEELING GONE..." (to quote Marlen from Finding Nemo)...when you have your screaming toddler hanging onto your legs as you try to make it from the fridge to the stove without dropping all the ingredients you just loaded into your arms :), the potatoes on the stove are boiling over, and what do you know, you just sliced your finger as you were cutting into a tomato!
Cooking can be hectic and messy and downright no fun at times but I try to remember that at the end of it all, my husband will always have a smile on his face, thank me for a great meal, and give me the worlds best kiss. AND THAT...is what makes my "GOOD FEELINGS GONE" moments all go away and get me back into the comforting bliss I enjoy being in.
My style of cooking is usually pretty easy, affordable with the occasional splurge, and for the most part, healthy. I usually make everything from scratch as it is healthier and lets be honest, more cost effective.
The reason I started this blog was to combine all of my favorite recipes from over the years and recent in one nice location. That will always be with me wherever I go. As of lately I have started trying out a couple new recipes a week from Pinterest and try to only put the ones I feel I would make again on here. I'm not one of those people who can come up with recipes on my own, nor do I claim to be a chef. I am just a housewife, who enjoys trying out new things, and sharing the good with others.
I appreciate all my good friends and families as they have tested out new recipes with me and allowed me to experiment on their willing stomach's....

I just finished making these for church tomorrow. Unfortunately there won't be many making it there. These muffins are the best I've had for awhile: moist, flavorful and packed with blueberries. I, too, only added 1 level cup of frozen (unthawed) wild blueberries. I used half white and brown sugar and what a great combination of taste in the mouth. Thank you Rani.
ReplyDeleteI assume you meant to post this on the Blueberry Muffin Recipe haha. These muffins don't last long at my house either when I make them.
