I found this recipe one day when I was searching for a REALLY fast dinner idea that would use things that I would have on hand because honestly lately I have been despising going to the grocery store! This recipe was jam packed with flavor and was done from start to finish in less than 30 so that's my kind of meal.
This recipe was found on a blog that I have posted about a couple of time called Six Sisters Stuff. Very cute blog. And I'll be honest I haven't had a recipe that I haven't liked from it so check it out for sure if you liked this recipe.
1 lb ground beef
1 TBSP Sesame Oil
3 cloves of garlic minced
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup soy sauce (I used a gluten free kind)
1/4 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
salt and pepper to taste
green onions diced
1. Heat a large skillet and brown hamburger with garlic in sesame oil.
2. Drain off most of the fat and add brown sugar, soy sauce, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
3. Simmer for a few minutes to combine all the flavors.
4. Serve over cooked rice and top with sesame seeds and diced green onion.
**Randi's Side Notes**
~ I think this would also be great as a lettuce wrap.
~ I personally didn't add as much of the crushed red pepper flakes because I am a pansy when it comes to heat so you can always start with a little taste it, and add more in while its cooking.
~ You could easily make a huge batch of this and store some in the freezer for an even faster weeknight meal.
~ When looking to make this gluten free just make sure that you are checking your soy sauce. A lot of basic soy sauces have gluten in them.
